Let's imagine that you want to create three different levels of content in your course:
- beginners
- intermediate
- advanced
To achieve that, all you need to do is to create permissions with these names and then attach those permissions to the modules or lessons.
Important: permissions are available only in private and public (purchase required) course types.
Beginners permission
Let me show you an example of how we would create and attach the beginners permission to some modules or lessons.
Here is a small course (private) example that we will play with:
First, go to the overview page of the desired course where you want to create your permissions.
Then, in the right sidebar, locate the permissions section and click on Create permission:
After that, you will get on the page like this:
On this page, you need to enter the permission name, select the enrollment type and enable/disable permission assignment at the start of the enrollment.
Based on the course type, you will be able to select the enrollment type in which this permission will be available:
- private course type (only paid enrollment)
- public (purchase required) course type (free and paid enrollment)
Once finished, click on Create button.
Awesome, now you have created your first permission, and all we need to do from here is to attach the permission to the module/lesson. To make it happen, click on the edit icon of the module/lesson where you want to attach it.
From here, you need to enable Use permissions (optional):
After that, you need to do the following:
- click on Search permissions... input
- select your persmission
- click on Save
Awesome, that's it!
Now on the course overview page, you will see the attached permission to the module/lesson.
You have done an amazing job. Now you can learn how to add course permission to students.
